About Therapy

“Is my computer mouse causing me pain?”

“Do I need an ergonomic keyboard?”

Have you been asking yourself these questions lately?

People often think they may need an evaluation of their workspace or need ergonomic equipment, but they don’t know where to turn.

Googling a few terms…

Turning to friends for advice…

But they can’t find the answers to figure out what they need for their specific situation.

It’s not easy for employers to find resources. Sometimes, they bring in professionals to do an “ergonomic evaluation,” but this is often expensive. People who offer ergonomic evaluations typically work for companies to sell their products without much instruction on HOW to use them.

Ergonomics is all about instruction and follow-through.

As an expert in ergonomic assessment, I offer my services aimed directly at employers and employees to provide a more individualized and cost-effective solution – I am an ergonomic professional who’s NOT aiming to sell products.

At CHRG Therapy, I work with you to evaluate your workspace in an office, a hair salon, or a factory. For example, maybe your chair height is too high, leading to neck strain, but you don’t know it because it’s the way you’ve always had it. Or maybe your worktable is too low and far away from you, causing you that shoulder pain you’ve been having due to excessive reaching. I will ask you to set up the camera at different angles so that I can assess these things.

Through this evaluation, I can listen to your questions and offer you practical advice on WHAT changes need to be made and HOW you need to move forward.

I work with employers and individuals to develop a plan that includes recommendations for changes, including habits, equipment, or schedule changes.

After an evaluation, I will follow up with you through an additional visit to ensure that this is working for you!

I offer support that makes a lasting difference.

My process for a virtual ergonomic evaluation increases access to instruction and consultation.

With a virtual platform, I can SEE your workspace at a convenient time for you. All you need is a computer, tablet, or phone and an Internet connection. I will send you all the instructions on how to meet with me.

Don’t feel comfortable with online help?

I recognize that virtual evaluations are not suitable for everyone. For that reason, I also offer in-person ergonomic evaluations throughout Maryland, Delaware, and in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Not sure what you need? That’s okay, give me a call, and we can discuss what would work best for you.

If you’re looking for telehealth sessions…

I offer those, too!

CHRG Therapy specializes in telehealth Hand Therapy, so if you have injuries or pains in your shoulder, elbow, wrist, or hand, I can help.

Note: I want to remain consistent with what I am saying I will do, so I took this from my FAQ page: I can visually inspect your injury and assess your shoulder, elbow, wrist, or hand range of motion with a goniometer as you move on the screen. I can also assess your general strength based on your handling of a few household objects you may have on hand. We will determine your goals together, and in each session, I will ask you to bring your “therapy goody bag” of items as we work on safely progressing you toward your goals.

If you have seen a doctor recently and have been referred for “Hand Therapy,” I can help. Even if you have not yet seen a doctor and are just wondering what your pain or injury IS and would like to know WHAT you need to do, I can help.

I work with adults, many of whom have been experiencing pain and would like to know what to do about it. They have Googled and THINK they may need to see someone but aren’t sure. And sometimes, they don’t have time to travel to appointments or don’t know the right questions to ask.

I can help with all of that.

Working hard shouldn’t mean pain is part of the equation.

About Me

I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Guyana, South America, after I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Biology from the University of Delaware.

During my time in the Peace Corps, I grew interested in developing “grassroots” health organizations and wanted to work “with the people.”

When I returned to the States, I researched graduate programs that fit my desire to work in healthcare but directly with the people. This was when I learned about Occupational Therapy. The more I learned, the more I realized that Occupational Therapy was the bridge between the “stiff” medical environment and helping people with their everyday health and function.

I then grew an interest in Hand Therapy while in school because it became apparent to me that Hand Therapy was a perfect mix of art and science. While my education is grounded in science, I get to practice the art of helping people improve their function and work toward their purpose.

I started CHRG Therapy when “telehealth” was becoming a new concept.

But I’ve always been interested in exploring virtual ergonomic assessments for my clients.

As an Occupational Therapist specializing in Hand Therapy and Ergonomics Evaluation, I help adult clients with physical injuries to the shoulder, elbow, wrist, or hand feel better. In that process, many people benefit from ergonomics evaluations to change their workspaces to reduce re-injury risks.

My journey with CHRG Therapy began as a collaboration with students. Because many students needed to adjust their clinical rotations, I set out to offer students an alternative clinical rotation working with me as the entrepreneur.

I helped my students by providing an enriching clinical rotation so they could graduate, and they helped me establish and lay the groundwork for this business.

I am fair, honest, knowledgeable about what I do, and a good listener.

My work isn’t about selling you expensive products.

I aim to make people feel understood and help them understand WHAT they need to do and HOW the process works amongst a bunch of confusion and overwhelming advice from their employers, friends, or the Internet.

I will help guide you through healing from an injury and reducing risks and follow up with you.

You can count on me to ask any questions you might be afraid to ask or haven’t felt like you could ask due to feeling rushed or unheard.

I look forward to working with you.
